Community Support for FishermenMany fishermen in fishing villages were affected by storm surge and strong wind due to the typhoon called 'Haiyan'. Some lost their boats and some got damage on the boats. They are still in the position where they cannot go for fishing. Additionally they have to manage to repair their houses and boats. There are few opportunities generating their incomes.
In this project, we will provide boats to the affected fishermen cooperating with local NGO networks based in Cebu Islans. We hope the project could help people to start fishing again and put their lives back by themselves.
Additionally we would like to focus on women's role in those communities, who support men as fishermen such as by making fishnets, drying fish, maeketing and selling. People do not recognize the importance of women's role
